Some comments from writers I’ve worked with…

After working on my first novel off and on for eight years, I knew it was time to get some professional guidance. My developmental edit exceeded my expectations! I’m not a professional writer nor do I have an English degree background, so getting a developmental edit was like having a master class for my own book. Ariane met with me at the beginning of the project to understand my goals as well as to identify areas to focus her attention. She gave me a detailed check-in after the first week, which put me at ease while I awaited the feedback. I’m so pleased with the specific comments she left in the manuscript, but the real treasure is the editorial letter. Ariane meticulously analyzed the character arcs, themes, and plot, as well as the worldbuilding and genre expectations of my novel. She provided ideas and actionable next steps to consider to make my story the best it can be. This was the first time anyone had ever read my manuscript, so I was anxious awaiting the feedback. Ariane showcased my strengths while identifying areas of growth. We were able to meet at the end of the project as well. We discussed the story, gave me opportunities to ask questions, and helped me map out what to do next. As a new writer, this whole experience has been incredibly valuable and well worth the investment. I can’t wait to work Ground Crew Editorial in the future.

Ariane is amazing! I was looking to get overall feedback on the main elements of my story and a few key character relationships. She gave me such a constructive, helpful, thorough and thoughtful critique that I not only feel hopeful in my manuscript and sending it off to my agent, but also empowered now that I see what is working and not working in my story. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend and well worth every dime! And I will definitely be going to Ariane again!

“I was interested in getting the grammar edited and obtaining some structural criticism on a short story, and Ariane's editing skills are both fast and in-depth. Not only did she make grammatical edits, but she suggested some structural and pacing changes and presented me with a number of questions about the characters and the world they live in that I might want to address in the story itself, questions that readers might ask. Ariane's in-depth analysis was one of the best things about her work.”

“I have used multiple editors and Ariane was the best. Where she excelled was in story development and identifying gaps or weaknesses, particularly on the character reaction side. I would highly recommend her as long as she can find time to edit for me in the future!”

“I was looking for help in shaping my book and understanding it from a reader's point of view. I needed professional eyes on it to find the weaknesses and strengths in my book.

Ariane was amazing to work with, timely with her responses through the entire process, and very professional with the feedback. I was extremely nervous handing my project over to someone, but she took all my worries and put them to bed. Her feedback was constructive and aimed at solving a problem. She also caught things I had never thought about and gave me clear goals to focus on in my second draft. It was in no way confusing or heartbreaking, but rather eye-opening and encouraging.

I truly enjoyed reading her feedback. I previously had a beta reader who completely tore my book apart, and it strained my confidence in my ability to write. Ariane’s feedback was very gentle but firm and to the point. She pointed out the weaknesses in a professional way and helped improve my confidence. Even though my book was not perfect, she helped me move forward and I am now one step closer to achieving my goals.”

“When putting together the materials needed for submitting my comic book to publishers I knew I would need outside help. Ariane took the time to identify ways to improve my outline, synopsis, cover letter and log line for my comic book. She was especially good at connecting with the characters and questioning what motivates their behaviors to make them more rounded. My particular story was a complicated one and her insight helped in my revision to make it more clear and concise, allowing me take my ideas and turn them into prose that anyone could understand.  Ariane's feedback was both easy to understand and thoughtful.”

I hired Ariane for a manuscript assessment because I was trying to make my story flow better and I needed a set of professional eyes on it.

She is extremely observant and has a great eye. I wrote a novel in a historical setting, not thinking too much about word choices, and she caught terms and vocabulary that weren't invented yet. I was impressed, as I have a history degree and didn't even think about certain terms such as "cute couple" not existing in the 14th century. She will catch inconsistencies or inaccuracies that are harming your story, and in the end, it will make your book stronger. Now that I have graduated and am no longer under the critical eye of my professors, I realized I got lazy with my historical accuracy. After working with her, I feel held up to a higher expectation when it comes to historical fantasy, but it is reassuring knowing she will catch anything I may overlook or ignore. She highlighted the most problematic issues and summarized them for me. She always provides quality feedback.

“I’ve had the privilege to work with Ariane Peveto on two novels that I’ve written and her skills as an editor are priceless. Not only did she edit and return my book back in a timely manner, but she did so with an in-depth editorial letter that was as strong and detailed as you might get when working with an editor at a publishing house. Her ability to capture plot holes and character inconsistencies is remarkable. With Ariane’s fine attention to detail and understanding of my stories, I’ve been able to transform my novels into such tip-top shape that I’ve had numerous agents request to read my full manuscript.”
